FAQ

What is a fanzine?
A fanzine is a collection of fan content, usually art and writing, by members of a fan community. For this zine, we have decided to focus on the theme of royalty.

What exactly do you mean in terms of “royalty” as the theme for the zine?
This idea came from ATEEZ’s confirmed participation in Kingdom. “Royalty” could mean ATEEZ taking the crown, or a royalty AU. We’d like to let artists interpret this prompt however they like.

Do the mods have any experience in organising a zine?
Yes, both mods have past experience in hosting one, and have been involved in all aspects of a zine.

How many contributors will you be taking?
We will be taking around 30 artists, with up to 4 spots for double-page pieces and 1 for the front and back cover art. The number of merch artists is subject to change as we may include more merch based on interest check results.

Are you taking any mods/writers?
No.

How do I apply?
We will be opening applications on January 19, after interest check is over. Please check our schedule for more dates, and please stay updated with our socials to see exactly when they will open! Regarding application details we will include all directions on the form.

Is prior experience needed?
No it is not! We will be accepting artists based on skill.

Can I apply as both a zine and merch artist?
Yes, but keep in mind you will only be accepted as one or the other.

What do I need to know before applying?
We will be asking for a portfolio link. A portfolio could be a link to a Google Drive folder, a Carrd or similar platforms. Social media platforms such as Instagram and Twitter are acceptable, but we suggest there not to be many sketches or WIPs so as not to detract from your completed pieces. We also suggest you include your strongest artworks so we can best assess your skill. While ATEEZ-centric fanart is not mandatory in your application, it is highly encouraged.

As a potential contributor, are there any requirements for my zine piece?
Your piece should fit the theme of royalty.

For zine artists, art pieces should be a full B5 page featuring member(s) of their choice.

For merch artists, we’d like to have 1 artist draw a print featuring OT8. Other than that, merch pieces can feature member(s) of the artist’s choice.

We will do a concept check between accepted artists to ensure that all members would be equally represented in the zine.

Are ships allowed?
No, we will not be allowing shipping of any kind so as not to limit the zine to one demographic.

Will artists receive a free copy of the zine?
We are hoping to be able to compensate artists with full bundles (a physical copy of the zine and all merch) if sales allow. At minimum, contributors will receive the PDF copy and be able to purchase the physical zine/merch at production and shipping cost.

What merch will be available?
Right now we are only planning to include charms and prints, but we may consider more merch depending on interest check results.

Will I be able to purchase a copy of the zine after the preorder period ended?
We will be ordering a bit more than preorder sales to account for defects, so there is a possibility for a leftover sale. However, after leftovers are sold out no more copies will be printed.

If you have any other questions, feel free to direct them to our Curiouscat! We will respond as soon as we can.
